The Settings & Tools panel contains all the settings in the 3D Cityplanner. Here is a quick overview:

Grid & Measurement settings:

This contains a dropdown for you system of measurement, where you can select either Metric or US/Imperial.

Under that is the dropdown for grid settings. To find more grid settings, click the gear icon to open the Draw Settings Panel. In that panel you can set your own desired grid size and offsets and enable or disable some other settings.

The bottom two buttons are:

- Measuring Distance by settings two points on the map.

- Measuring Height by setting one point, also shows tilt and azimuth on a that point.

Click on the button again to remove the measurements.

Graphic Settings:

The top dropdown is for setting graphics quality, with the Automatic toggle you can set it to automatic. You can also change the interface size and enable or disable high DPI rendering (for high resolution screens).

Visualisation Tools:

There are 5 buttons under Visualisation Tools, in order:

  • Screenshot tool: open the Image Export window with options to take a screenshot.
  • 2D mode: toggle 2D mode (shows projects from top down).
  • Basemap transparancy: toggle basemap transparancy (to view underground buildings like underground parking).
  • Time and Weather controls: Opens Time and Weather controls panel to change and simulate shadows for every day of the year.
  • Artist impression: Toggle artist impression (for showing rough ideas).

Project Tools:

With the big buttons at the top you can open the Analysis Tools window. The dropdown for Project Object Visualisation allows you to change the visualisation of project items/buildings. At the bottom there is a button to op the Currency & Finance setup. This is very useful if you're using the 3D Cityplanner to calculate your project financials. You can set your own variables to get an accurate calculation for your project.

Travel Distance Analysis:

This tool allows you to click on a spot on the map and get a visual representation of the travel distance from anywhere to that point. There are multiple options for mode of transportation and if you want to do the calculations by time or distance. To remove the visualisation press X.

Point Information and Subsurface (NL only):

With this tool you can get all the available information on a specific point or area on the map. The Subsurface tool also gives a visual representation with an information window.

3D Terrain:

This allows you to enable 3D terrain, to show the height differences on the map. You can choose the quality of the 3D terrain.

Height Scaling:

Scales the height of the 3D terrain. This also allows you to see the floorplans in multiple layered buildings.
